Membership

Art Director Member*
An Art Director who has attended or graduated from an accredited art program and whose primary responsibility affects the outcome of a creative product through his or her design influence. He or she acts in a management capacity to supervise art staff personnel, interfaces with clients, and directs vendors with regard to the outcome of visual products. Additionally, the prospective member must derive his or her primary income by performing the duties of "art director". The individual must be recognized through the sponsorship of two ADCNJ Art Director members.

*Five samples and a written explanation of the applicant's participation in each should be submitted with the completed application, which will be reviewed by the Membership Chairperson and the ADCNJ Board of Trustees.

Professional Member
A design consultant, creative director, graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or art educator who resides or conducts business in New Jersey.

Associate Member
A printer, typographer, or allied crafts and service provider who serves the graphic arts and resides or conducts business in New Jersey.

Institutional Member
A full-time professor who resides or teaches in the field of visual communications, photography, illustration, or other studies as may be deemed by the Board of Trustees and Membership Committee to be within the limits of this category in New Jersey.

Student Member
A student residing and/or attending a school in New Jersey and matriculating in the field of visual communications, photography, illustration, or other studies as may be deemed by the Board of Trustees and Membership Committee to be within the limits of this category.

Life Member
An ADCNJ member who has been an active member for ten or more years and are retiring from practice.

Honorary Member
Nominated by the Board of Trustees and selected by vote at a regular meeting. Honorary membership is bestowed upon those who have rendered outstanding service either to the ADCNJ or in the field of art direction.
